: One other thing I forgot to mention, before surgery, the surgeon told me the pain would be gone INSTANTLY, and I would be back to work full duty within 90 days, I thought hey cool. When I complained of pain, which with increased activity became quite severe, he reply was I just had not stayed active enough, and it was my own fault for the problems I was having. When I had the surgery it was a required 24 hr. stay, he let me leave that night, told me I could do anything I wanted as long as I did not lift over 10 lbs. I was canning peaches the next day, and in horrible pain before I was half done. I continued to can through the season, and do my work, I had stayed VERY active during the recouperation period. My Surgeon had and continues to have an aditude that if I am having problems it is my own fault, and evidently looks at this qualities as being compaired to God. Have several times said he thinks hes God.

Sue,

I also had a cervical fusion done on 1/27/00. They removed lots of bone spurs and a big block of calcium that was compressing both my nerves on both sides. In othe words my poor little nerves were literally squished. I was out of the hospital the next morning I didn't even stay 24 hours. I had a terribel problem getting food down and of course at the time he didn't let me know that some times if you move the throat it will paralize it in certain places. So off to my home on soups and lots of yougart. I rested for 2 weeks never leaving the couch except to go to the bathroom or get something and after the 3rd week was trying to get slowly back to normal. I still am in pain not the same kind but it still is pain, my neuro said " well is it the pain as before and is it better, then I did my job". He is ready to release me and I'm still having problems. I think they all think they are God and not much compassion either. I go to another doctor who is helping me out with the pain and therpy. Good luck and it's not all in your head, which is what I thought. I'm going to check out Pain management to see if they can help. Or find another doctor. The thought of getting cut again is unexceptable for now.
