: My father has a cyst wrapped around his spinal cord, that goes in the neck area. He was born with the disorder. What are some of the most current treatments or procedures for this condition, to help decrease the severe pain he is in right now.
: thank you!
I am 19 years old and have a syrinx inside my spinal cord between C6&C7. It had taken up 40% of inside diameter of my spinal cord. Mine is fluid filled, and I was told that is was the cause of my severe lower back that I have had for over three years. I don't know if your dad's is the same situation, but my neurosurgeon placed a shunt in my neck.
it had to be removed a month later because of infection, but the syrinx did reduce in size for a period of time before it started to regrow. Unfortunately, even when it was reduced I still had the back pain. My neurosurgeon is one of the top ten in the country through Children's Hospital of Detroit Michigan, but I'm not sure if she starts with adults. I am also looking for more information, so any you come by would be appreciated.
