: anyone have this did you have surgery how serious what was outcome

Hi Sherry:

I had a synvial cyst on my lumbar spine. It affected three disc spaces. I had pain down my right leg to my ankle and toes. I have been in this degree of pain for six months.

I could walk okay but when I went to run, my leg was a wet noodle, it would not respond to my wishes. I was operated on about five week ago. My leg pain is completely gone and I have just finished therapy. I am going to the gym on a regular bases now. I love to hike and ski. I may not ski next winter but I have already hiked.
I did a four mile hike last Saturday and was able to carry a tem pound pack without any pain.

You can E-mail me with any other questions. My E-mail address is skimtngal @ postmark.net. If I can answer them I will gladly.

The surgeron said that my synovial cyst was cause by severe osteoarthritis. I feel like it was caused by a fall that I had in February. I tore my hamstring muscle in a back country skiing accident. I have not had a good year.

I do not know of any other treatment than surgery.
Since my cyst was pressing on a nerve root, I did not have any other options.

I would be interested in hearing from another synovial cyst patient. Good luck, Nanc
