: My Mom was having some tingling in her extremities, and was sent for an MRI. The findings were that she is having spinal cord compression Cervial Myelopathy, the Dr said it is from a bulging or herniated disk (I forget which one, she has both) anyhow, she is in great pain (although the dr. said the pain is not from the spinal cord, but, her arthritis.)He suggest she have Anterior Cervical Mircor-disection, within a month. I am taking her for another opinion, and also looking into alternative treatment. The dr also said the surgery will not alleviate the pain or tingling, only the spinal cord compression. I am very close to my Mom and love her dearly, and am looking for any info or input into this matter.

I am going on the 16th of this month to have an MRI of my spine and brain. I have suffered terrible pain, tingling, and numbness for years but getting worse and worse as time goes by. Personally, unless it was going to relieve at least part of the pain for me, I would not let the doctor doing surgery on me.
When you have reached the depths of hell that these kind of things bring you, I believe that to have surgery that is not going to benefit what you are going through now is just an additional pain and a waste of time and money.
Sincerely
Brenda
