: I had a injury at work a couple of years ago and am having constant pain in my neck. x-rays reveal bone spurs between the 4=5 and 5=6 ? I'm starting to get tingeling in my fingers, particuarly when driving. Plus I notice a redused amount of strength in both hands. Could this be because of the bone spurs? What can be done for them? will it get worse? Does a Chirpractor help?thank you
I had my bone spurs removed on 9/7/00. When it first started my neuro surgeon had me do home traction for a month and that releaved my symptoms for over 2 years! Unfortunately when they came back I had spurs effecting both sides of my neck from c-2 thru c-6/7. They surgery was very painful but you get the pain meds you need. AFter only two weeks I can do most things for myself and plan to go back to work in another 2 weeks. The numbness in my hands is slowly retreating and my doctor expects a full recovery! As you can see you have several options. Yes, it can and probably will get worse in time. Orthopedic and neuro surgeons can both treat this problem. They would probably have you get an MRI for further diagnosis and maybe a mylogram ( I had both) I wouldn't recommend a chiropractor.....you need a surgeon. It is treatable and I hope you get the help you need before it gets worse. Good luck!
