: Karen~

: I am so glad you posted this when you did! I am in the same situation. One of the screws in my back at the L2-3 level is putting pressure on the left side of my thecal sac and is impinging/irritating a nerve, which is also on the left side. However, I have this permanent-horrific-shooting-stabbing-tingling-burning feeling in my right butt check, down the back of my right leg, and clear into the toes on my right foot. The left side of me is perfectly fine. The doc says it is not due to the pressure on the thecal sac or the screw impinging a nerve because it is in the wrong leg....yet he doesn't have a clue what could possibly be the cause of the pain in the right leg. This pain is consistently getting worse and I've gone to the ER for it twice in the last week, however no drugs touch it. Not nerve pain meds, not narcotics, nothing. I am completely baffled by this.

Sara you sound like you are in worse pain that I am in. I've only had a little burning, in my thigh and they were brief. I have heard the burning is a bad sign, not sure why. I posted my original message on the "back" problem message board and I got a few responses pretty quick. A few ideals. We are not the only ones out there with this problem. Are you small of frame? I am and I have lower back pain before I..umm have a BM, my friend who works in the medical field said it could be because the intestines are pressing on the bulging areas so I have to wonder if the full intestines could be then pressing on nerves as well. Just an ideal.
Take Care and please let me know if you ever find the cause of this. God Bless.
