I am 41 years old and am having severe burning pain in my shoulder area. It started about 7 months ago as stabbing pain down my left arm. I have since had aching in my neck area (sometimes needing to wear a soft cerival collar) and aching in my left shoulder blade. I have had 3 epidural injections, which helped my stabbing and back area. I have had physical therapy, which made my shoulder much worse. I have had 2 MRI's and an EMG test. I am going this week for a mylogram and CAT scan. I have been diagmosed with degenerative narrowing at the C5-6 disk space and some spondylitis ridging, along with C7 radiculopathy. I am on medical leave. This pain is very severe. I have been very physically active my whole life, and now I hardly leave my house. Can anyone tell me more about this burning pain? My surgeon is checking to see if I have bone spurs that is causing a pinched nerve in my shoulder. I am concerned that this burning is a cause of nerve damage???? Should surgery help?
