The symptoms you describe are exactly like the ones I have. I am 1 1/2 years post-op, having undergone a C5-C6 anterior cervical disectomy and fusion with metal plate fixation to repair a ruptured disc. I was injured in a truck driving accident and along with the ruptured disc I had severe cord compression and nerve root damage. At the time of the accident, I initially thought I had broken my shoulder due to the intense burning pain which radiated down my arm and left my hand numb and tingling. This was due to the nerve root being crushed. Now after surgery, injections, countless hours of PT, pain-management programs, drugs, neurological evaluations, the pain is still there though not as severe. Some days it's unbearable, sometimes it's not too bad. The worst thing is the terrible headaches that go on for days, sometimes weeks. I've lost most of the strenghth in my right arm and my hands stay cold to the touch for hours every morning. Hang in there and don't give up. I just thank God everyday that I am still here and can hug my wife and kids. Don't get me wrong, the surgery did help, although the severity of my injury left me with lifelong pain.
God Bless. Michael
