I'm a 26 yr old female that has four arachnoid or tarlov cysts on my spine.....I have been too two neurologist and they tell me I will be fine, but I'm having a lot of pain in my lower back area and the pain radiates down my left leg and the pain is getting worse......I would like to know are their any doctors out there that knows anything about this rare childhood disorder.......please email me and let me know something......thank u very much .....And ladies I know exactly what u all are going through with it's an everyday thing for me......God bless u all ......Take care
: : : : I have been having a great deal of pain in my hips legs, low back and recently left arm and finger, I also have muscle weakness and wasting. my doctor thought i had a muscle disorder so i had a biopsy which was neg. i am slowly getting worse. I went to a orthropedist who took xrays of my spine and said there is something going on with it. he wanted to do a mri but the insurance co.. would not approve it because they said to get pt first. the reason i am concerned is that i have a pitiutary cyst and cyst in many other areas of my body. my leg hurt so bad when i try to sleep, i almost can't take it and more. I can barely get up and down stairs and get up from a sitting position. does this sound like a spinal cord problem and should i pursue this? thanks for listening.

: : : I had a spinal cord cyst and you have similar symptoms. They didn't have MRI's when I started having symptoms and more permanent damage was done because of the delay. My family doctor finally recommended me to a neurologist after 10 years of misdiagnosis. The neurologist examined me and knew within that first visit what it might be. The MRI proved his theory. My neurologist then sent me to an orthopedic surgeon to assist the surgery. I had a rare cyst that was growing on the spinal cord. They weren't able to remove it but they did stop it from growing. A recent MRI showed a "normal" spinal cord. No cyst present but the damage is an everyday reminder not to wait on any doctor. Keep looking until they know what's causing your problem. Good luck and I'll keep you in my prayers!

: : Joan,
: : Like you and Mary Ann, I started having problems and the doctor kept telling me that there was nothing wrong. Some of my doctor problem were different, I had 5 MRI and the radiologist stated there was nothing wrong with me, but I continued to worsten. I took all of my exam and MRI to UNC-CH, where they told me my spinal cord was being compressed by something. It turned out to be an arachnoid cyst from T4 thru T-7. I am doing better but I may have some nerve damage from the year and a half of putting up with doctor that feel that if they can not find anythiong wrong then there isnn't anything wrong. I would sit down with your doctor and tell him that he is the only person who can help you get the MRI. I hope things get better for you. Good Luck!!! Remember your not alone, even though you may feel like it sometime. Many of us are going thru the same thing.

: The last few days have been very scary for me and my three year old son. He has a mass on his L1 and L2 part of back. He is having a MRI in two weeks and the neurologist will follow up with us the next day. I haven't found to many resources online about pediatric spinal conditions do you have any information?
