Hello. My name is Mary and I had back surgery in the fall of 98. Prior to the surgery I was suffering from lower back pain and sciatic nerve pain down my left leg. I had tried other treatments for the pain for at least 5 years but finally decided to seek surgical advice.
I had seen 2 doctors and finally chose one of them. I think that was my first mistake. I should have seeked more opinions.
However, I did choose a doctor that totally conviced me that titanium cages were the way to go. He told me that after the surgery I would be able to get into the best shape I had ever been in, in my life.
Well, it has been 15 months since the surgery and I am in worse pain now than I ever was. My left leg is numb from the knee down, I lost bladder function and normal bowel function. When the doctor was faced with these matters he said that I must have had some prior chronic condition. Well, the only health problmes I had were the ones I went to him for. And like I said above I have never been more convinced in my life by a person about what I should do. He was so confident and convincing that I agreed to the 10 to 12 hour surgery.
I look forward to any comments that you may have.
Thank you for reading this message and happy new year to all. Sincerely, Mary
