: : Dear Lori,
: : Rec'd your reply. When I read your notes they remind me a lot of the inner struggles and questions I had years ago. You're not crazy, and not alone, there are thousands of people of all ages that suffer in similar ways. My wife also had back labor (25 years ago) with our first son. She has had periodic problems since. I believe that most reoccuring spinal problems (and connective tissue disorders) are hereditary. I used to think I hurt my back doing something while off balance or picking up something too heavy. As years went by I discovered that there are definite hereditary predespositions for most chronic cases (not counting traumatic injuries). I can provide you with some information in several areas. For the sake of space, let me know which areas you think would most benefit you. Physical therapy, anatomical outline of the common problems with bilateral back pain, heredity, connective tissue disorders, body mechanics (very important over the long term), medicines, likely prognosis, and emotional support techniques. I didn't take the emotional side too seriously the first decade, but it is an important part. When you have severe pain that comes and goes over time, often without a real known reason, you can feel helpless with your condition, angry, depressed, scared, and even doubt your own good reason. I've experienced all of these, but normally feel mostly at peace with it now. If I am able to help you, even a little, through this difficult time, it would make feel good. : :
Sincerely, Rich

: Hi Rich:
: Thank you for responding. I had back labor nearly seven years ago. Nothing more than muscle sprains in my back prior to that. I was thin and strong and all of a sudden... My mother had back problems, but hers was from a sendentary (sp) life style. I had another steroid injection about a month ago. So far the left side feels a little better, but muscle spasms and cramping is still there. Now I am having that pain in my hip and right leg. I try to have a positive outlook and have great faith. I try to look at the bright side that at least I can still walk. Forever the optimist. I was just hoping someone else has had experience with this weird problem so I know that I am not crazy. ha ha.
: Lori
