I have had SIMILAR fears maybe, not exactly the same.
Mine revolved around feeling responsible if anything happened to one of my family members (and later strangers). Like, I would worry so much if my brother cut himself, or one of my parents, making sure they put antiseptic on it. Or sometimes my parents would use some cleaning stuff that smeeled strongly, and I would make sure they aired the room afterward, because I knew I would have trouble sleeping otherwise, imagining they would get poisoned from the smell. For a while I was obsessed with my borther not getting enough air in his room, always trying to open his window for a while when he was gone, or even open his door to the hallway while he was sleeping... stuff like that.
In my case it was when I was THERE, not when I was gone. I actually felt relieved when I spent the summer away, not having to worry so much all the time...
And by the way fears like that CAN go away. I am still struggling with fear stuff, but it is different and I think better. I hvae lots of ups and downs. There have been really FREE times too, oh how good that feels when you are so used to being afarid all the time...!!!
