Born: Stroke and Heart defect

My son was born with a heart defect (VSD). One year on heart meds. At 8 months old, he was showing signs of failure to thrive and it was discovered he had had a stroke just prior to birth. I was stunned.
well, today he is a very healthy, active and content 7 and a half year old who is a success story. I am convinced that much of his success is contributed to early intervention programs and his own determination as a child. Please, to anyone with a child who has any kind of developmental delays, seek early intervention. It is so readily available and I have barely spent a dime on expenses. We are still doing followups with OT occasionally but he doesn't let anything hold him back!
