: My mother, Romona is a 71-year-old female who suffered a stroke 5 years
: ago with left-sided paralysis. 2 years ago she developed intense pain,
: which is mostly localized in her left groin. The pain seems to have
: started after an internal bleeding episode caused by too much Coudadin.
: Her doctors have diagnosed it as post stroke pain. She has tried the
: following medicines with no help, often aggravating the pain or causing
: extreme nervousness: Elavil, Neurontin, Tegretol, Mexilitine, and
: Lamotrigine. Any other suggestions? She also takes Desyrel (sleep),
: Buspar (anti-anxiety, necessary?), Baclofen (spasticity) and Coumadin
: (blood thinner). She has a pacemaker. Her stroke was due to Atrial
: Fibrillation . Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated as her pain is
: becoming upbearable.I also have pain since my stroke 5 years ago. I'm 48. My pain is mostly in my hip knee & foot. We are on similar medications.
I wish I could help but my Dr. said some people just seem to have more pain than others.(what an answer)
