: : Hello, : : I have a family member who recently had a "moderate" stroke and currently cannot swallow. He just entered into an intensive rehab program. I would like to hear from others who have had inability to swallow and how the recovery progressed. Thank you for any information on this subject. My mother had a stroke on Dec 6th. It affected her swallowing. She had a trach and needed to be constantly suctioned. She now has edemas and can't even be put in a chair. Her eyes are open and she can watch TV. I wonder what goes through her mind. She is 83 and was playing Bingo and Blackjack before this. Has anyone had excperience where this can get better?
