I had a stroke at the age of 27 (a month before I turned 28) I currently am 33. I did get a diagnoses, it was a rare auto-immune disease called Takayasu's Arteritis.
I was completely paralyzed for a day on my right side. I have no real effects from the stroke except my right leg kind of drags a bit. No one notices it but me. And the heel on my shoe suffers from it. LOL After an angiogram they found out my left Carotid and subclavian arteries were 100% occluded. TA causes you arteries to inflame and close then scar over. It's apparently very difficult to diagnose. So I guess I was lucky. What tests did your doctor do in finding out why you had your stroke? They did every test you could think of until they finally did the angiogram. I was in ICU for about a week, once they diagnosed me they moved me to a regular room. At the time I had two children and I had another healthy baby girl in January of '99. I was not suppose to have any more children, they felt I could have another stroke and they didn't know how it would effect my disease. So it was a scary time for us. I had many symptoms before I had my stroke, but at the time I was not aware that they were TIA's.
If you want to talk, feel free to email me. I can fill you in on my symptoms and whatever else you want to know.
