: I'm looking for any support group (or a chat room)in the Los Angeles area. My mother has had 2strokes and I am the only one making any of the medical decissions. I can't handle it alone any more. I've had to quit my job and the stress has become overwhelming.
I feel for you. MY husband had three strokes and I am the only one to care for him. MY children help but they are children. I finally came to the decision that I could not do it any more after five years. He also had diabetes and now he is in a nursing home. He is now 47.I know the overwhelming feeling. Sometimes I felt like not waking up in the morning. You must put yourself first and get some help. I found the squeaking wheel gets the oil. You must be loud and make sure everyone hears you. because if you talk quietly and be NICE no one will take you seriously. I had an app. and signed up for assistance, and the guy told me over the phone I couldn't get any. I made an app. with the head person at social Services and told her I CA N'T DO IT NO MORE I NEED HELP!!! I got it. I could of had help for years but because I took the guys word and didn't buck him I suffered acouple years more alone. I mean alone- no one not even family knows what you are going through unless they are involed.Since she is your mom, you will be able to get help. Contact Social Services Good Luck Gloria
