: : : I SEEK INFORMATION ON DEPRESSION AFTER A STROKE. WHY ISNT THERE INFORAMTION OUT THERE ABOUT THIS? DEPRESSION OFTEN SLOWS DOWN OR EVEN HAULTS THE REHAB PROCESS. IF ANYONE OUT THERE CAN PROVIDE SOME GUIDANCE IT WOULD BE VERY HELPFUL.

: : hi im sorry about your depression do they have you on anti depressents?? i know another pill Right well my husband only takes it when he feels that depressed are you sleeping at nite<< what are things you like to do and can do?? i would like to write to you but i wil be gone thursday 4-13 -25 we will be back on. my husband had a major c,v.a. along with apraxia and aphasia , no speech , take care write to us any one with stroke problems we are here to help one another ty.

: Thank you for your concern and for the information you provided. Actually it was my brother that had the stroke. He constantly fights and argues. His pseech has improved a great deal since his stroke last year. And he rmembers many things from his past but he still has a lot of trouble with certain terms or meanings. Just the other day he wanted some boiling water but he could not say exactly what he wanted,he had forgotten the name for tea. Dealing with strokes is new to our family we are so disoriented.

My husband had a stroke and I have learned that speaking with gestures is a great help. Teach or show your brother that "words" are not the only way to speak. If he cannot think of the correct word he is looking for, 'act it out' -- for tea, he could simulate holding a cup and maybe putting the tea bag in the cup or drinking the tea -- something that will let the other person know what he wants. My husband had a lot of people say they would want him on their side in a game of charades! You have to be creative when talking --make the sounds of things or gestures are great for helping understanding. Try it!
