My Mom had a stroke 7 months ago. Her memory of things that happened prior to the stroke seems to be fine, however, everything since then is all messed up. She forgets that she's asked a question or done something and a couple of minutes does it again. This part isn't too bad but she also remembers things that just didn't happen. She will talk to me about conversations in vivid detail that simply never happened. When I try to explain to her that it didn't happen she gets angry. She once accused me of making things up to prove her wrong. She also absolutely believes that there is nothing wrong with her. She can't unbutton her pants or remember to turn the water off but is really mad at me because I won't let her drive a car. The doctors have been little help and I need to find out if there is anyone out there with similar problems.
When the stroke happened Nov. 28, 1999 Mom lived in Idaho with her husband. Now she is divorced and living with me in Oregon very much against her wishes. I want to make her happy but there is nobody able or "willing" to take care of her there. I've gotten her a psychiatrist but after 2 visits Mom's decided she doesn't like her, now what do I do?
Anyway, if anybody has any suggestions please let me know. Thanks
