: I had a mini-stroke last month. My right side was completely paralized for 40 min then feeling began to return. The only remaining damage I notice is a numbness on the end of my tongue, very slight weakness on right side with balance problems, occasional reoccuring burning sensation in the right upper scalp area, and severe depression and problems with sleep. Does this sound normal?

Hi Marie,

The symptoms you describe would be as a result of where in your brain was effected. In my own case, as a result of a stroke, I was in a coma for 5 days, on awaking I had no capability of walking and very little arm movement. It took intense therapy to regain those abilities.

My concern for you apart from being how long the effects last, but have you seen your doctor. What caused the problem in the first place and will it happen again would be of more concern. Next time you may not be so lucky.

Peter
