The other day I went to the anti-coagulation center (the place in my hospital where I get my blood checked; my home health care has been cancelled by my insurance). The pharmacist there, prescribed me the 5 mg pills of coumadin. Since I came home from the hospital in September, they have had me on the 2 mg pils because it was easier to figure out how many pills I take per day [I used to take 6 pills (12 mg) or 7 pills (14 mg]. Now they have upped my dose, and the number is now divisible by 5, so I take the 5 pills. I am so glad they have switched me to the 5 mg pills, because I ran out of the 2 mg ones too quickly and I got tired of getting them refilled. To think I have to take these pils forever. Maybe one day, my blood will stop being so thick, and they can decrease my dose (although, the other day, I read in my newspaper that coumadin really isn't a blood thinner).
