: Has anyone encounted repetative verbalizations in an elderly stroke victim with right side stroke attack? If so , how long does this symptom generally last. Will it dissipate over time or is it a long term syndrome? Any info greatly appreciciated.
Yes my family member that had a stroke 2 years ago does that. I hate to tell you but I believe that it is permanent. I also work at a hospital (although I'm a not a nurse) and I have seen it with other stroke victims as well. It can be a word or a phrase. They will say that word or phrase in response to everything or sometimes they just say it continuous when no one is even talking to them. It has to be frustrating because in my case they know what they are saying is wrong but can't say anything else.
