: Dear Andrew:
: It seems from what you explained that your mom is exactly at the same point my mom was. She had the feeding tube through her nose but they have since replaced it with a PEG tube which is more comfortable, this is near her stomach. For weeks she would also only open her eyes for minutes but believe me it is better now. Now she stays awake for hours. My mom was also transferred to a rehabiliation/care center 11 days ago. She is now awake for longer periods, she cannot talk but can now move her arms and legs. She still has a long way to go but don't give up hope even when it seems hopeless, look for any improvement. My mom for weeks seemed to just sleep now she stays awake for much longer. She too is also very thin and has lost alot of weight. Since she has been transferred they now put her in a chair and this seems to wake her up more. After her stroke I know she couldn't see but amazingly now I think she can see a bit. I'm not sure if your religious but I have been praying to St. Therese a novena and believe me I think she can hear me. I will also pray for your mom. Keep me posted. My mom had her stroke on July 24th and its been very difficult, but don't give up hope.
