Monday 11th September
Mum still remains in hospital with a slight improvement. They have now been sitting her on a chair and she has opened her eyes a lot more and began to take in whats happening around her. It's interesting what you say about 'sight' because for a while we were convinced mum could not see us despite looking directly at us .
Feeds continue to given via the NG tube and they want our permission to let them insert a PEG .We worry about this operation and the 'invasion of the body' and remember 30 odd years ago my mum holding strong views against this course of treatment and denying my grandad this operation although I think it was then quite new and untested.
Did it cause your mum any discomfort then or now?
Once the operation is complete, and we are told the Doctor can 'overrule'our family wishes if he so choses, then we will need to find alternative care.
Mum's stroke was Tuesday 8th August and it does seem both our parents are on the same slow journey hopefully to recovery.
Thanks for your comments and it helps just to hear from others going through the same difficult times . Im not too religious but you never know I might give her a shock and pray to St Therese a novena tonight .
