: My Father had a stroke 9 months ago which left him in a wheelchair and no use in left leg and arm. Last week out of the blue he began to lift the leg and wriggle his fingers. As you can imagine everyone was surprised. Is this the start of him getting back to some normality? Has anyone gone on any further than my Father? I would like to think that one day he may walk again. Also I read in a local paper about acupuncture for strokes. Has anyone had any success with it? Thanks for reading. Sandy
Hi Sandy, I had a stroke 4 years ago that resulted in a golf-ball sized blood clot in my left hemipshere. I continue to get stronger and better. Trust that he will have a complete recovery, it may take 5 years, maybe even 10, but improvement continues over very long periods of time. TRY EVERYTHING! I have had wonderful improvement using deep muscle massage, this was a great way for me to feel my extremities again, so they could get stronger. I have also used acupuncture and it does a great job shifting my energy around - try it! Try it several times and YOU observe his response, don't just ask him what he thinks about it. You might be more receptive to the change than he. Good luck to you, Jill
