: My beloved MIL (48 years old) is the survivor of three brain aneurisms and two neurosurgeries.
: Her first surgery went well, but either during or after her second surgery she had a
: very debilitating stroke. She spent 2 months and 2 weeks in the hospital, 6 of those
: weeks in rehab. She has made an amazing recovery as her doctor told us the day she
: was discharged that she had progressed further than most patients do in an entire year
: in a mere 6 weeks.

: My MIL, Kathy, is now home, but she's bored out of her mind. She was once very
: athletic, enjoyed fishing and the outdoors, crafting, etc. I've been thinking and thinking
: trying to come up with something for her to do during the day. She has limited use of
: her right side and she has double vision. The only thing I can think of is jigsaw puzzles,
: but I'm not certain that she can see those. Any ideas on something she can do basically
: sitting down and one handed? I talked to her today and the first thing out of her mouth when
: I asked her how she was feeling was, "I'm disgusted! I'm tired of sitting down and laying down
: and I want something to do!! I'm bored!"

: Thanks for reading this.

: Sincerely,
: Tess

Hello,
My mother (63) suffered massive brain aneyurism bleed 8/99, two surgeries later, 1 month coma, paralysis, non-speaking, etc...we are proceding with "patterning" physical therapy to hopefully teach her how to move and talk again. We tried hyper baric oxygen therapy, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida...no significant improvement...We believe physical therapy and speech therapy is the only way now...
We need about 8-10 physical therapy assistants/students to do the patterning therapy in her home near Orlando, Lake Mary, Florida. If anyone knows how to help...please write to me. adw@wiginton.net.
Thanks,
Alan
