: Please help me in trying to locate a rehab center for my father. He is 4 years post stroke and is still living day by day without the use of his right hand and foot. Please help me find a program which might give him a chance to hope again.
I'm sorry but not able to give you any information you seek where are you located? stroke is a real beast sometimes what we have left is all we are going to have. I am 8 years post stroke or will be 8 years this thursday,
lost my entire left side have had over 3 years of physical thereapy and occupational therapy but have gained nothing more than I had when I left the hospital and rehab 1 year after my stroke.
I still pray every day for more recovery but it's doubtful that more is coming but will never give up hope day by day is the only way to get through life now it's not easy or fun but it is what we have there is research going on constantly for our condition maybe one day they'll find a cure till then all we can do is live each day as it comes and enjoy it the best we can.
my feeling is that the brain isn't like a broken bone you can't put it in a cast and it will heal, part of my brain is dead, not my favorite term but true dead is dead it isn't going to heal. your father may or may not regain his right hand and foot but he must learn to except that for some unknown reason he survived his stroke he is alive, live life to the fullest.
miracles do happen, only a small percentage of us survive our strok at all. god answers every prayer just sometimes the answer is no. i'm sorry i'm not able to help you more but facts are facts we must never give up our hope or faith.
if you'd like feel free to write me to coldiron#delanet.com.
i'll be sure to add your father to my prayers.
