Care-giver support

My 54-year-old husband had a stroke which affected his non-dominant parietal lobe (right side) last month. I am his primary care-giver. I would appreciate any information, suggestions, etc. which would help me in getting him to do the things which will help him get better.
I am finding it very difficult to put various services in place for him, such as getting a neuropsychological and cognitive evaluation done, and getting him evaluated for home help. I would appreciate knowing how others have dealt with these things and gotten them accomplished.
I would also appreciate any information I can get on the type of stroke he has experienced.
