Dan--
My goodness, I didn't think anyone else in the world even knew what a PFO was!!
I suffered a stroke in February of this year. They never did figure out why-- the doctor I
am seeing now speculated that it was because of my PFO.

I looked into some of the devices that will "plug" the hole. I saw a cardiologist and he
didn't seem to think that plugging the hole would be a good option.

I have heard rumors that it is not good to take coumadin for more than five years, but have
found no concrete info on it. I'm betting and hoping that technology will come up with
something in the next five years to help us out!
In my mind, the risk of stroke from them doing the procedure is scary, plus we don't know
for sure that the PFO is what caused my stroke. I thought it through, and the risk of having
brain damaging mini strokes or another full stroke keeps me on the coumadin. For now.

If you need a site for info on plugs, I'm going to try to put a link on here (haven't tried it before).
It looks good, but it IS produced by the manufacturers. Does have a neat movie showing
how they place it.

Hang in there-- I hope things go well for you.

Sue
