All strokes

My mom had a stroke four years ago, and is independent, but keeps getting into accidents lately. I just moved in with her. I am in no way qualified to help, especially with her independence. I want to make her life better, but she feels she can't do anything anymore, giving up license, etc... Cooking is her life, and there has been a fire which caught on her head. It's scary and I do not like this position. At times when content, she almost acts normal. Any help? The nurses, etc.., just take it for granted this stuff happens.
