: my grandma suffered a hemorrhagic storke on friday and she is still in a coma. they moved her from stable to critical condition on tuesday. however, when the doctor spoke to my family last night, he said she is not improving and that is not a good sign. they put in a feeding tube and they are talking baout doing surgery on her stomach and putting in a treachea?? the hospital is not telling us very much...
: i want to know if there is any hope that she will wake up...i feel left out in the dark...i know medical professionals do not know much about stroeks and comas but i need some idea...will she wake up??
hi melanie, my name is larry coldiron. please remember that each stroke as well as each stroke survivor will differ! my stroke was 8+years ago and I was in a coma lasting 9 days no one in the medical field could possibly answer all your question because they don't know and wont untill such time that she wakes up all they know is that each side of the brain controlls different things the right side of my brain died during my stroke leaving me completely paralyzed on my left side luckly most if not all of my mental capabilaties remained, I've still got my memory both long and short term as well as about all of my cognative skills, my speech wasn'y affected nor my vision maybe i'm just lucky! the doctors don't know that much about coma unless they've been there take it from me as i have been there your grandma knows you are there with her talk to her, touch her and let her know you love her. i don't want to give anyone false hope so i'll only talk of what i know from my own experience. age and severity will determine the outcome for your grandma and the doctors just wont know now what that is i was declare brain dead but i knew who was there with me and i heard the doctors telling my wife i'd die by morning sweetie that was over 97 months ago and i'm setting here now typing this for you and i'm certainly not a vegatable i don't have all the answers you want or need but if you'd like to write me my address is firstname.lastname@example.org. i'll tell you anything i know to be true but will tell you this NEVER EVER GIVE UP HOPE I know miracles happen because I am a living one to this day
i'll keep you and your grandma in my prayers may god bless you.Larry Coldiron
