: I posted a question on another board and was referred to this board. I never thought of coming here to ask this question...but I know nothing about thyroids.
: In the past couple of months I have developed this weird twitching thing going on. Its real subtle, most of the time I am the only one who notices it. YOu know those little twitches you get around your eyes sometimes? I get those and twitches in other parts of the face and alot in the legs and other various places.
: They aren't usually visible but I can feel them and they are driving me nuts. I have also had a neck ache and a bad, bad headache off and on. This isn't continuous. Sometimes a week or more goes by without any muscle twitches or neck ache. My doctor did a cervical spine Xray to rule out disc problems and it came back okay. He simply prescribed Motrin 800 for the headaches and said he was not worried at all about the twitches...they would disappear in time.
: And just dropped it there. I worried about this.
: Any advice would be appreciated.

I have hypothyroidism but it's under control, and for the past 6 months on and off I have had this muscle twitching, everywhere-in the stomach, under my left eye, legs, foot. These started four days after a d and c for a miscarriage. I was told to eat aloat of bananas and after about two weeks of eating three bananas a day they subsided. When I stopped the banans about a week later the twitching resumed, so I went back to eating three bananas a day, and drinking 3 glasses of skimmed milk per day and they went away again after about two weeks of this regime. This leads me to believe that I was lacking in potassium rich foods, and come to think of it bananas were not in my diet, nor was anything else that contains potassium-check your multivitaimin and jyou'll see the pot. is low-maybe 20 % of the daily requirement. Try the bananas , cantaloupe, plantains, and potatoes-three servings per day, and be patient, give it a couple of weeks.
