: I have a 2 cm growth on the right lobe of my thyroid that the ultrasound found to have mixed echogenicity and that the etiology is indeterminate and neoplasm cannot be ruled out. I was then given a needle biopsy that came back okay but my internist and the specialist she sent me too don't trust the results because the growht is so fiberous that they don't feel enough samples could be gotten. I have been scheduled for at least a right thyroid lobectomy on Aug 10 and would like to know what to expect after the surgery. Can anyone who has had this done let me know? Thanks
Angie..Hi, I just had a total thyroidectomy done the end of May. I can sure tell you what to expect. The surgery is not really all that bad. I am still recovering but only because my voice is not yet 100%. The incision is not bad, mine is only 3 inches long at most and is in the crease of my neck. Even with it not being 2 months since the surgery it is hardly noticeable. I am really pleased with the scar and recovery time. I had been sick for over a year and the swelling in my neck was very bad, making it difficult to swallow and also at times breath. If you want more info please feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
I am no expert but I can tell you what to expect with the surgery. Darlene
