: Can alopecia be caused by Hypo or synthroid? Is there a natural alternative to synthroid? I can not take herbs because I'm allergic to salycilates and yellow dye. Reaching my saturation level to both was caused by taking 1.0 mill. of synthroid for a couple of years, so my doctor switched me to two .05 mills instead. This is something others may want to consider doing before they reach that saturation level.

I think so. Even if dr's say no. Mary Shomon's book covers this in detail. My hair falls out all the time. My dr. is waiting for some tests to come in to switch me to Thyrolar. At least I get some T3. She is not 100% opposed to Armour thyroid, and I am pushing her for that. If not I will have to accept the synthetic thryolar. At least she is open to that. I can't take this synthroid anymore. Wt. gain, insomnia, hair loss, puffy face, and skin problems. Who knows. But pushing up synthroid every so often is not for me.
Good luck.
