: Hi Tina!
: Thanks for the post. I'm now wondering if one can send samples for testing to labs oneself...do you know? This may save me some money and help me get the type of tests that I want.
: As for my guilty pleasures, I'm smoking more than ever...I don't think I'll try to stop now, due to the anti-depressant effect I get from em. I can forgo the beer, tho.
: Yes, on remeron, 30 mg. Behind on knowing too much about it.
Hey, we indulge in have quilty pleasures. If it isn't smoking, alcohol, sweets, or overeating(the minor ones) then we all find a way to turn something good into something bad for us. The person that starts out just to exercize for health becomes addicted and turns into the Exercize Natzi (sp?) or the one that starts out to eat healthy turns into the Food Police. Those last two are just downright annoying! LOL
I don't see any reason why you couldn't order your tests from a local Lab if you were paying the tab 100% for it. I would think that the Doctors orders for it would be so that they could bill your insurance. A TSH test can run from $30 to $100 depending on the lab and the type of test done (1st generation, 2nd generation or Ultrasensitive), I would think. As I understand it the more sensitive tests are unnecessary. A complete panel can run in the hundreds so call around to your local Labs and ask.
I'd sure be interested to hear what you find out!
. : : : Tina,
: : : : I thinks it's both alcohol AND smoking...in combination with effexor (my guess). I can get myself dizzy by smoking alone, or by having as little as 1 beer.
: : : Hi Mick,
: : : You're most likely right! It would be great if you could stay away from both until you are completely weened from the effexor and Paxil. I've read up a little bit on the effexor and it can be a hard job to get weened off it! My sympathies go with you!
: : : Have you seen the very long thread on effexor on Dr.bob.com? If not, they may be able to provide you with help in dealing with it. BTW, didn't you say that they switched you to something called Remoron (or something like that) what is it?
: : : All the very best of luck to you, Tina
: : Hi again Mick,
: : Just remembered finding this a few days ago and I think that it was in regards to the "home test" I had heard about earlier this year. It's a cheap "go-no go" type of test that's only good to dx either extream of hyper or hypo. It does not give the TSH level, boo-hiss!
: : Sorry, Tina
: : : :
: : : : : Tina,
: : : : : Thnks for the reply! I know that alcohol stays in your system for a while, but I think it's something else. I get the dizziness even when I don't have the beer...
: : : : : I'm guessing this is not a symptom of hypothyrodism from your reply. Smoking also constricts blood flow...I didn't have the dizziness before I started smoking, so I'm suspecting that. Do you really think it's the moderate drinking? I've always heard not to drink at all while taking anti-depressants. I've tried both and my experience is it's not a big deal for me, but that's just me.
: : : : : : : Hello,
: : : : : : : Occasionally when I get up from sitting down, I am dizzy and almost faint. There's some shaking and "muscle failure" as well.
: : : : : : : I haven't fainted yet though, and keep forgetting to mention this as a symptom.
: : : : : : : Any experiences? I'm taking 10 mg paxil, 75 mg effexor -- I thought a month ago this was due to the dosages of these.
: : : : : : : Concerned, I got a checkup and got a TSH result of 5.77. Now taking synthroid, .O5.
: : : : : :
: : : : : : Hi Mick,
: : : : : : I really hate to say this but if you are still having a couple of drinks while you are on the antidepressants that could be causing your dizzyness.
: : : : : : Please don't hate me for having to say it, but it's true..they do not mix. Sorry, Tina
: : : : : :
: : : : : : : Still get the dizziness occasionally.
: : : : : : : Thanks,
