Does anyone know about the effects of lilthium on the thyroid gland? I have been taking lithium for manic depression for eight years. I have had thyroid problems for about four years. I have an enlarged thyroid with nodules. But my TSH is normal, 3.15. I have no thyroid antibodies. Yet I have hypothyroid symptoms like, feeling extremely cold most of the time, hoarse voice, dry skin and nails, feeling tired alot of the time and depression. Every thing I read on thyroid and lilthium say you have an elevated TSH level and you do not have nodules. My doctor hasn't given me much information. I am not quite satisfied about what little she has said. Can anyone give me some info on this? Thanks. J.W. mom@wci.net
