: : : If you have hyperthyroidism can you still be bear a child??? I've been trying to have a baby for 5 months now and it doesnt happen. I'm thinking its because i have hyperthyroidism. I'm hopeless already!!!! Do women with hyperthyroid still have babies??? Please enlgihten me! thanks!
: : Have you stablized your TSH and T4 levels and are you ovulating? I was on PTU but not stable and not ovulating. You can go the basil route or they have those one step test to see if you are ovulating. I tried for 3 years then had my throid removed and stabilized my levels and concived in 5 mo. Most will say surgery is too radical and to go with RAI. That's up to you and your doctor to find the best solution. I wish you the best of luck.
: Hi Susan! i just had a bloodtest yesterday so ill know soon if my levels are normal. dont women ovulate every month? That's why we have periods? Oh no! I dont know a thing! our baby making process is put on hold for now cause my man is away. anyways, i had RAI but im still hyper! im working on making my tsh and t4 normal! thanks!
Teresa:
Well the sad fact is that you still have your period even though you may not be ovulating. See you OB/GYN and he can help you establish if you are ovulating. I would find a good OB and work with him and your internest/endocinologist.
I have heard that some RAI if they don't remove/ kill enough tissue shows little or no change in the troubled thyroid. This is not commmon but can happen. If you ask Lynn W (if you haven't yet) she'll be able to tell you how long it took her to go Hypo after RAI. Also, Remember that you need to wait a while before you try to conceive after RAI. About 11 mo. Keep your eyes on the prizes as they say-I love my kids. Susan
