: : I've read somewhere that when you have dental work and a thyroid problem that you should take
: : antibiotics prior to the work. Is this true?
: : Thank you for your help!!
: I have had a crown and some fillings done while hypothyoid and have never hear of this. Also, My dental hygenist is hypo and I would hope she would tell me about this or the DDS. Anyone else hear of this?????
Actually, it's when you have a heart murmur that you need to take the antibiotics before dental work. it's to prevent any bacteria from your teeth from getting into your blood stream and causing a serious infection in your heart. I have to take antibiotics for my mitral valve prolaps which was found a few years back after my doc found a heart murmur.
