: About six months ago, I was checked for my thyroid. I am not sure what made my doctor do that, however
: she did. It has come back very active. My doctor showed great concern, at the start. However I have not
: symptons of having hyperactive-thyroid. During the last six months I have lost about six pounds, however I have
: always wanted to loose a few pounds. I go for test every two months to check my levels. No change.
: They did find a lump on my thyroid and sent me for an ultrasound but that came up nothing.
: My question is, should I be worried, or is there something I can do to prevent symptons. When I first
: found out I did lots of ready, but nothing ever said about prevention. Oh yes, there is no thyroid
: problems in my family till me.

: I would like any information.
: thank you

I would suggest going to endocrineweb.com or about.com. There is a lot of information and links. You did not state your test results TSH and T4 or other symptoms, signs you have. From my understanding there are a few meds out there like PTU that control a hyperthyroid. I have been told that after drug therapy the thyroid may return to normal. Yet, I do not know of anyone who has had this happened.
