: I had a total thyroidectomy for papillary cancer and am on a suppressive dose of synthroid- 225mcg. I run 7 miles every other day and sweat more than I ever have in my life. I am careful about contiual fluid replacement. I also find, that though I used to run it all non- stop, I now every once in a while on each run have to walk for 10 - 20 sweconds, to get my heart rate down, then I run , then walk a tiny bit, etc. Is there anyone else out there that does strenuous exercise on synthroid? Is this dangerous at all? When I was hyperthyroid my heart rate would raise during hard exercise (riding the bike my heart rate would jump to 193)but now that I'm "normal" again it doesn't. I can hit my target heart rate and hold it. Sounds like you are to high on your meds. I work out about 6 days a week on weights and cardio and my heart rate is normal. I'd talk to your doctor about that - that can't be good for your heart. Luckily your heart is strong from running as long as you have but it shouldn't go up to the point where you have to walk to bring it down. Good luck Q
