: : My doctor wants me to make a decision whether to continue taking Armour thyroid or switch to
: : Synthroid before I get pregnant. Is there any difference in how Armour affects a fetus versus Synthroid? Where could I go to get info on the two drugs and their impact on a fetus?
: I am and was taking synthroid (2 kids) while pregnant. Both kids had reflux the first mild the second severe. There may be a link but not proven to the synthroid and reflux. I would think the natural replacement Armor would be better but who knows. Check out About.com and see what articles/links are there. Let us know what you find out. If I run across anything I will pass it on. Susan
It shouldn't be a problem concidering that it was the only hormone and used long before the synthetic T4 only drugs came on the market. Actually having the T3 may help you get pregnant and avoid a miscarriage? Mary Shomon(the thyroid guide from About.com) has a lot more information about it in her book "Living Well with Hypoythyroidism; What your doctor doesn't tell you that you need to know"
It really has some great information in it about thyroid and pregnancy!
Best of luck, Tina
