: I have heard from a few people that taking diet pills can cause this disease. Is that true? And what is thyroid disease?
I've never heard of a study that links the two. But I know of a few with ingredients that can make a thyroid condition worse. Watch out for any that have Chitosan as it is derived from shellfish which contains a lot of iodine. And stay away from the diets drinks and foods that use soy.
Your thyroid controls every cell in your body and your metabolism. When it goes out of whack either producing too much or too little hormone the effects can be overwhelming and it effects every part of your body depending on how much or how little hormone it produces.
