: I read hair loss is a symptom of hypothyroidism. I have been feeling colder than usual since the hair loss started and gained a few pounds. Is the thermometer under the armpit a reliable indicator? What other tests do I need. Thanks.
Nancy, Go to www.endocineweb.com and get an overview of hypo/hperthyriod. then go to www.wilsonsyndrom.com I think there it has the temp info. and of course www.about.com has alot of thyroid info too. If you feel bad and have any questions see your Dr. Blood tests TSH & T4 are the most accurate method to detect thyroid problems. Also, your Dr can tell if it is anything else. There are alot of things that can cause hair loss and low temp. Best of luck
