: What do they do at an encronologist (spelling?!!?) appointment? Do you really have to get into a gown and all that? (I hate getting into a gown). There were some posts about it earlier on here. Just curious what to expect?!?!? Joanie- Every Dr is different in their approach. Some prefer a gown while others do not. It really depends on what the Dr is examining. If it is just a thyroid issue wear a button down top loose fitting and you may avoid the gown. They will check your neck, eyes, heart, blood preasure and draw blood. When I went in the 1st time to an interologist she didn't know what my problem was so she checked out a lot more than the Thyroid. My gallblader, gyardia(sp) and an ulcer were suspect at the original visit. You can always bring a friend to your visit. Most Dr will allow them in the exam. Or have the nurse/MA in the room if you are uncompoftable. It can be unnerving at times to see new Dr's and it can take a while to get comportable with them.
