If you live in the US, you are entitled to a copy of all medical records and labs.
Since doctors may rely on the lab range for "normal", which may not be normal for YOU, you do need to know what your test results are.
You need to get educated enough to be sure your diagnosis is accurate, and treatment is accurate.
Mistakes/lack of knowledge in the medical field are high, and in thyroid, very high.
There is a book called The Thyroid Solution, and lots of archived articles and research on about.com/thyroid, as well as a new book, called Living Well With Thyroid. These will get you a very good start.
You will have to be your own health care advocate, unless you ahve an extraordinary doctor, which it doesn't sound like you have.
