Here is something to read. Copy and paste it on a search engine:
http://thyroid.about.com/health/thyroid/library/weekly/aa072500a.htm?rnk=r3&terms=thyroid

You can also go there and do word or phrase searches to get some info regarding hypothyroidism and weight loss.

By the grace of God, I was able to get an endocrinologist that understands the TSH is just a general indicator, but does not prove what level of thryoid any particular individual actually needs to be well.

If you can find a doctor that will actually listen, you may be able to show him/her some documents you can get thru about.com, on the Thyroid Forum there. It has made the difference with some doctors.

There is also a test, called the Thyroid Releasing Hormone test, or TRH, which if administered and the TSH rises hhigher than a certain number, it is cnsidered to be hypothyroid. Some docs still will not treat.

You can always ask if you can have a trial run of thyroid to see if it makes a difference.

I am no typist, it is tedious to me.
I was not properly DXed for over 20 years.
You could go bak and read some of my posts to get my story, if you want to see that I really can empathize. I was really ill, until my TSH went down to under 2.
Please keep us updated on your progress.
Stay with it and change doctors until you get what you need! TF
