: OK, here is my health history...

: I am a 28 year-old woman. From age 13-22 I was 5'2 and always weighed 85 pounds from being hyperthyroid. I had all the symptoms -- the frail body, the buggy eyes, insomnia, huge appetite.

: I got on "The Pill" (oral contraceptive) when I was 22 and was on it until the age of 25. I had to stop taking the Pill because I gained so much weight in such a short amount of time.

: The scary thing is, the weight never came off, and it won't budge. No diet works for me, and no amount of exercise works, either. Now I have this HUGE fat roll around my midsection and I look matronly and dumpy! Me, who always weighed 85 pounds and wore a size 0-2.

: I went to an endocrinologist and she, at first glance of my thyroid said, "Your thyroid is huge." She said I was hypothyroid at that time.

: After a run of thyroid tests, she then changed her mind and said that since I had been hyperthyroid for so long, my thyroid basically burned out and now it's just normal and in a normal range, whereas to me it seems like I'm fat. And she wasn't sympathetic.

: So now I'm back to square one. What do I do? All you hypothyroid people know what I'm talking about. You know how hard it is to lose weight, especially in your midsection. You know how resistant diets are for you, no matter how hard you try.

: I am uncomfortable with all this extra weight around my middle, and my face looks chunky to me. I hate this! I just want my old body back!

: Since my endocrinologist had no suggestions and basically just sent me on my merry way, I have to treat myself. I simply don't have the desire to go through that whole rigamarole with yet another doctor.

: I am currently on Depakote (750 mgs. daily) for manic depression (I gained the extra weight way before the Depakote), and I don't know how Armour Thyroid will react with my medication.

: A friend I know has some Armour Thyroid and I am tempted to try it to see how it affects me. I just want to lose this 30 pounds and get back to my thyroid's former metabolism. How can I speed it up?

: Should I take a huge amount of kelp? Should I take some Armour Thyroid -- and how much? Also, how long will I need to take this stuff until I notice that my metabolism has speeded up and losing some real weight?

: Please, do tell!

I have a similar story. I was hyperthyroid, but
was weighing normal. Symtoms include shakiness,
very fast heart beat (like 120pm-160pm) My doctor kept a very close eye on me. I was on the pills,
I've gain a little bit of weight but then lose
it all and more when I religiously and rigorously
execise everyday.

Unfortunately, during the past 8 months, I've
gained about 30kgs due to a medication I was on
(mental illness).
I was really upset. But recently I was introduced
to some diet pills. It is Duromine and I think

It promised to lose 8-10kgs per month. I have
only taken the pills for 3 days, so I can't tell you whether it works or not, although I seem to have lost 1kg in the second day.

But it seems to have worked on people from all
over the world, go to the Weight-Loss healthboard, you will no doubt find valuable information there.
