Are all thyroid medications the same??

I need some info please. Are all thyroid meds the same? I was told by my doctor that I had low thyroid, and I saw his notes. They said hyperthyroid....I thought that low thyroid meant hypothyroid....Can someone please set me straight on this please? My test results said .35 My doctor used a scale of .46---4.98 anything inbetween is normal. Are all the meds the same whether you have hypo or hyper?/????
