my wife has been diagnosed with TMJ. after wearing a splint for 18 months here oral surgeon and dentist wanted her to wera braces for two years followed by surgery. My HMO will pay for the surgery but refuses to pay for the pre surgical braces. Has any had any luck in getting their insurnace to pay for pre surgical braces? I have heard that there are 17 states that have laws on the books that state that if braces are needed pre surgical that the HMO must cover these cost. Has anyone heard of this as well and if so is there somewhere I can get a copy of that list.
