There is a special DR. in Tacoma WA that has done wonders for the Tmj problem (a whole different approach)his name is: Farrand C. Robson D.D.S./P.S. toll free # 1-888-354-8651. I spoke with Carlene (office personel, who was extremely helpful and nice.)
People come frrom the Neatherlands and Japan to see this Doctor. I myself am trying to figure out a way to go and stay for 2 weeks somehow for treatment. You can at least give them a call and ask some questions, and see hoe you feel about this.

: : :I, too, have both. I have had FMS for years (8 or 10) and TMJ pain for at least 3 years.
: : It was bearable until I had a splint made to stop grinding, and found that my jaw was locked
: : shut in the mornings. I am now in the market for a TMJ specialist; apparently there are all types
: : of therapy that can be used for this.

: I have both. I was diagnosed with TMJ at 17 when I got my braces off. 11 years later, I am now diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I am in the process of trying to figure out if one causes the other etc. I've seen my x-rays and my TMJ is very real. I feel the pain and know my fibromyalgia is real. I have not figured out where to go from here, yet. I have a meeting with my Dad/orthodontist tonight and an appt tomorrow. I will also be seeing my internist and psychologist the following day. I have been referred to a rheumatologist but will have to wait 4-6 weeks for them to schedule an appt.
: If anyone knows anything more about having these two together please fill me in because I am at a loss and stuck taking serious medications, some of which interfere with what the others are doing. (i.e. antidepressants and valium, which makes me cry)
